Jean-Pictet & Columbia

The Jean-Pictet competition is the largest international humanitarian law (IHL) moot competition in the world. Unlike other moot competitions, there is no brief requirementInstead, teams will spend a week in the Ohrid, Macedonia engaging in simulation-based competition against teams from around the globe highlighting evolving areas of IHL. Previous simulation topics have included the legality of cyber attacks, the intersection of human rights and IHL, and the use of drones in conflict.

Applicants should note that participation on the Jean-Pictet Moot Competition Team does not satisfy the 1L Foundation Moot Court requirement. However, the interactive and collaborative nature of the competition - in addition to the opportunity to travel abroad - make participation in this Moot Court a can’t miss for public international law junkies. Applicants must be team-players, self-starters, and be comfortable in role-playing based simulations.

To apply, please forward a resume and letter of interest to Joshua Koenig at Interviews will be extended to successful applicants. Applications are open to 1L, 2L, 3L, and LLM students. Further questions can also be forwarded to the address above.
